Halloween Is for Pumpkinheads

The Pumpkinhead 2

For drinking Pumpkinheads, that is.  That’s the name of the scrumptious new Halloween drink that the M.E. invented this week, especially for me (and you).  His inspiration?

Black Vodka

What could be more festive than a frosty bottle of black vodka?

Okay, these are festive, too:

Candy Pumpkins

And thus, with black vodka and candy pumpkins, a new drink is born.  The recipe is elegant in its simplicity, but does require a bit of care in the technique.  Be sure to freeze the vodka for a few hours (at least) in advance.

Blavod vodka, frozen
orange curacao
candy pumpkins
toothpicks, the longer the better

Use small cocktail glasses.  Pour a shot of orange curacao into each glass.  Carefully and slowly, pour vodka down the inside edge of the glass so that it creates a distinct layer on top of the curacao.  Impale each pumpkin on a toothpick, and, without disturbing the artful layers of booze, garnish the drinks with them.

The Pumpkinhead 3

I’m so ready for Halloween now, I don’t even need a costume.
