In Real Terms
I’m beginning to wonder if there are secret knitters on Capitol Hill. Knitters who refrain from displaying their needles and yarn during legislative sessions, but who nonetheless deeply understand the real cost of things.
Like, what the bailout would cost in IYUs — International Yarn Units.
$700 billion dollars.
That’s 28 billion skeins of sock yarn (IYU-S) at $25 each. Or 17.5 billion skeins of laceweight (IYU-L) at $40. Enough stash to make an entire nation of knitters short on closet space.
All that perfectly good yarn money straight down a toilet. Who wouldn’t call a halt to that?
